Keep up on events that are going on around your school.

November

Well, it’s the beginning of November, and almost the beginning of a new grading period. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m still having a major sugar hangover from Halloween. Curse you, delectable sugar goodness! We had some pretty nice costumes at the lunch costume competition- vampires were carving pumpkins [not with their teeth, I hope], fairies were chasing each other, and the Spanish Inquisition showed up, completely unexpected [don’t get the reference? Watch Monty Python]. There were three categories for costumes- scariest, most creative, and funniest.

The winners? Naturally, that would be the only part you’re interested in. The scariest- Alec Adams, dressed as…. the prettiest fairy princess. How frightening in pink you are, Alec. Tony Gonzales won funniest as a girl in a bikini, and Zach won most original as the border patrol. I’m sure if I entered I would have won- apparently, I’m quite convincing as a boy.

At the same time, the blood drive took place- everyone was previously assured that their blood was not, in fact, going to vampires. It seemed a huge success- several people were seen wandering around with bandages and sugar, but the latter wasn’t too rare anyways.

But enough of dwelling in the past. In this next grading period to come, we seem to be letting off on student activities- partially to give us time to stress about the finals to come. Thank God for thanksgiving break! Watch out next week- November 21st to the 26th! Whether you care for turkey or not, there’s plenty of time to sleep. I mean, of course to… work on your big projects. Of course…

On December 8th, a rummage sale will be held in the north parking lot, and possibly even an auction. I know, I know- why take time out of your busy Saturday schedule to go shopping through someone else’s stuff? Well, it is from 8am to 2pm, so you still have the entire afternoon. Also, this stuff is cheap- it’ll be sort of like a flea market, except without all the small pesky insects. Also, if you want to have your own space to sell your things, or a club to get merchandise out there, a booth of two parking spaces costs 15$. Bring a jacket!

There have been some interesting ideas circulating around leadership recently. This has not been approved yet, but several enthusiastic students are hoping for the Ultimate Dodgeball tournament- yes, it is all capitalized, it is that cool. If this des in fact, take place, then there will be 16 teams of ten- four teams per grade. They will compete, eventually getting down to one team- who will face off against the teachers. Personally, I think it sounds very fun. From the audience, of course- sports aren’t my thing. If it happens, signups will be from November 26th to December 7th, and the actual event will be from December 11th to the 15th- that’s a Tuesday to Saturday. I have a goal for you readers- force your teachers to sign up. My vote’s on Raszler and Rosales.

And of course, the shows for our art department. The Chorus concert, a mix of folk music that may or may not actually relate to the holidays, will be in the theatre on December 6th. The choir is in need of some more voices; so if you have 4B open, join us next semester for a whole lot of sarcasm and songs. The band and orchestra will play the next day, with various solos and many, many instruments.

The theatre’s long- awaited play, Cactus Flower, will have several performances- November 30th, and December 1st and 2nd. Check out some awesome actors from all over the school, like Alec Adams; fairy princess-check above, Jordyn West; the star female part from 1776 last year, and Eli Smith; also known as Rico Suave from unity. Check it out!

If you’d like a quicker summary of everything I told you above, then one: you’re extraordinarily lazy, and two: don’t worry, the answer to all your questions is forty-two

October-September

Did you forget to have your mug shots taken, or just decide they weren't pretty enough? This Wednesday, September 26th, come on down before school[around 8] to retake pictures! The pictures won't be in the yearbook, but it'll be on your id cards and whatever pictures you order. The same day from 5 to 7, the back to school BBQ lets you eat endless amounts of food for just seven dollars.

Club Awareness Day is on the 27 th at lunch. You can check out some awesome clubs you might want to join, and buy some stuff to take home! Unfortunately, the clubs aren't allowed to sell food this year- apparently they sold enough to compete with the school lunches. Funny how ice cream is better than chicken burgers or wraps.

Give me an S! Give me a... Wait, I'm not a cheerleader. But   Spirit Week is the second week of October, from the 8 th to the 12 th ! On Monday, borrow your parent's strange wardrobe for 80's day! Tuesday is tie-dye day, and Wednesday is College Day- although I'm not entirely sure how you would dress up for college. Maybe a polo shirt, carrying microwavable noodles? Thursday is Class Spirit- wear a shirt with your class color! Freshmen are Orange, Sophmores are yellow, Juniors are green, and the seniors are white[freshmen, don't try and wear another class's colors- we know who you are]. Why?

Because the rally will be on the same day! The classes will sit together in their matching shirts for the demonstrations, dancing and singing. Turns out that our school actually has a theme song. Who knew? The next day, Friday, is school spirit day! Wear black and gold, or find a jaguar body suit and scare people.

That night, Friday the 12th , will be the long-awaited homecoming game! Our Varsity team will be facing off against El Molino. If you want to be on your class' float, talk to someone in leadership or go to B124 [next to the library] by Friday, October 5th . You will actually need to do work, but it's worth it!

To celebrate our likely victory, on Saturday, October 13 th , the homecoming dance is at the Double-Tree Hotel in Rohnert Park starting at 8- tickets are $40, but you need to make sure you've filled out your permission slip! Pictures are before the dance at the school, so make a pit stop with your date [I'm going with my camera].

The Jaguar Market is basically the clubs selling their... whatever it is they want to sell. October 9 th - be there or be square, if you'll excuse the cliché phrase from the 50's. Then, Mr. Jaguar is on October 27 th ! A beauty pageant for the men of the school- even our president is taking part. It promises to be entertaining, so if you want to enter as a contestant, judge, or host, swing by B124 to pick up an application by October 1st. Last year, it was cancelled because not enough people signed up- so be sure to this year!

And so the school year begins.
