Prom 2008 was truly a night to remember. For some it was special because it was their first prom, for others it was unforgettable because it was their last. Out of all the dances Windsor High holds throughout the year, prom is always the most meaningful. Maybe its because it's the one dance that you can convince your parents that you have to get the ridiculously expensive dress, and your hair and nails done, simply because, "It's prom, everyone else is doing it!" Or maybe because you wait half of your high school years to go to this one dance. Or maybe, it's all of that; it's different for everyone. The reasons to go and the reasons why it's memorable are different for everyone. But what makes it so special is that were all in the same place, together, feeling different.
Upon entering the Flamingo Hotel, you were greeted by a table to vote for your Senior Prom King and Queen. If all of the beautiful dresses and classy tuxes weren't enough, an oversized crystal chandelier hung from the lobby ceiling. The music played loud enough to hear before you even entered the hotel. While entering the ball room, lights and loud music filled the room. The lighting looked like a bunch of laser pointers. They shot into the crowd towards the DJ's table. The music was great, well most would say anyway. Of course there were the few songs where the dance floor seemed to immediately clear, but after all that hard dancing, everyone could use a break anyway.
An hour or so into the dance, the Prom King and Queen were announced. A long time couple, and two friendly seniors; Derek Fleming and Camille Warren were announced King and Queen. After their slow dance, the rest of the dance went on. Everyone's faces were filled with smiles and sweat. The sweat was no surprise considering someone had decided to crank up the heater in the middle of the dance; such a "funny prank." Overall, Prom 2008 was a success. It was fun, it was special, it was different, and most of all, it was a night to remember.
