School rivalry can be fun and games, but sometimes students take it too far. School spirit is a great thing, when practiced in acceptable ways. Vandalizing schools is in no terms a way to show spirit for your school. Windsor High School has fallen victim to many attacks of vandalism, benches being stacked, garbage cans flipped over, TPed, and even walls spray-painted. Surveillance cameras come in handy, as the school studies them to see if they can identify any suspects. And rumors started by students pointing the fingers at certain schools are usually correct and the vandals usually paint there school name on the walls, both of these help narrow the search for the culprits. Last week coming to school in the morning I noticed garbage in the planters, garbage cans flipped over. Although this isn't the worst vandalism attack we have experienced such as last year with "project mayhem", where students from Healdsburg came to our campus and spray painted our walls and sidewalks with vulgar words, images and the words "project mayhem". There was a reward for anyone who knew who the suspects were and for a good solid week it was the talk around campus. It took only a short while for are janitors to clean up the mess, and we moved on.
There are many reasons why another school student body may feel the urge to come vandalize our campus. Losing a football game, or at any another sport, can make the losing school upset and they may feel the urge for revenge. Another reason could be if students from our school go out and vandalize another school, if that school gets word that it was Windsor High students then they feel that we need a taste of our own medicine. Or could it simply be that they are jealous of are beautiful campus?
The school vandalism from about a week ago the time this was written, has been determined that it was not from Windsor High School students and was from students from another school. Staff and some students helped clean up the mess and tried to restore order on campus. As soon as I noticed the mess it was cleaned up. Projects that the environmental core had set up where also vandalized. Worm boxes that where used to decompose waste where flipped over. This made quite a mess and also ruined what they had stared.
If you hear anyone talking about students involved, please let someone know. This is our campus and its our job to protect it. Don't be afraid to give information involving vandalism acts and suspects. It can be made confidential, and will be greatly appreciated.
