High hopes in a possible "David vs. Goliath" series

October is here, and with October comes the World Series.   Fans all over the country have feverishly followed their teams for eight long months.   Many hearts have been broken, and only two teams remain.   The Colorado Rockies have exceeded all expectations and have taken on the roll as the Cinderella team in baseball.   They have captured fans all over the country and have won the hearts of many.   The Rockies face off against the powerful and almighty Boston Red Sox who battled back against Cleveland to take their second American League championship in three years.   On paper this series will be over in four games.   However this young Colorado team has spirit, incredible teamwork, and the hunger to bring a World Series title back to their fans and the state of Colorado.   On top of all this, The Rockies have been red hot, winning an astounding 21 out of their last 22 games.   Hopefully their eight day lay off wont slow their momentum.

This is a great story, however all great stories must end.   The Red Sox have an explosive offense, very experienced and talented pitching staff, and a fantastic defense who holds the third highest fielding percentage in the Major Leagues.   The Rockies do have a great offense lead by Todd Helton and Matt Holiday, as well as a flawless defense, yet their pitching staff wont keep up with the all-star studded lineup in Boston.

Personally I would love to see the Rockies win in a "David vs Goliath" match up, nevertheless, Boston will thoroughly dismantle the Rockies and take the series in five games.   For this to happen, certain players must step up for Boston.   Josh Beckett must come out firing,   game one will set the stage for the rest of the series.   The Boston offense must continue to roll, lead by Manny Ramirez and David "Big Papi" Ortiz.

The only way Colorado will contend in this series is for their youthful, fiery offense to get to Boston starters early in the game.   The Red Sox single flaw is their middle relief, the more they are forced to use it, the more successful Colorado will be.   The Rockies also need rookie of the year candidate, Troy Tulowitzki, to help propel the offense, and keep the defense on their toes.

Prediction:
Boston in 5 games

W.S. MVP: David Ortiz, who else?   Boston will need their best hitter to produce for them to continue their dominance on offense.

As for now, all I can say is "Go Rockies!"
