Julie Raven onstage as the Countess in Windsor's
Shakespeare on the Green production of All's Well That Ends Well.

Mrs. Raven-Smart was one of the original 9 teachers that started the high school in 1995. Over the years, she has taught and created curriculum for English 9/10, 11/12, Theater Arts (beg. and college prep), Beginning Computer Tech (graduation requirement) and invented the very unique non-acting course: Theater Design.  Her previous career prior to teaching was working in Hollywood & Beverly Hills for a television advertising firm specializing in Game Show Prizing.  During high school, in Sacramento, she was extremely involved in theater and summer stock.  Her senior year in high school, led her to a new ROP class called Television Occupations.  This introduced her to her love of directing and applying to Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA, upon her instructor's urging, specializing in tv/film production, Communication Arts degree.  Later she returned to college a 2nd time in Sacramento to obtain a Secondary Teaching Credential and study English & Theater Arts.

In addition to creating a myriad of curriculum for Windsor High School (9/10, 11/12 English, Beginning Computers, Digital Foundations, Theater Design...) Mrs. Raven-Smart has been the creator of The Windsor Jaguar Troupe (student acted/crew plays directed by her 1995-2013 and on).  She also schedules and coordinates WHS Theater both during school hours and after hours.  She has coached many actors who have gone on to perform in local theater groups:  Windsor's Shakespeare on the Green, Spreckels, The Raven and Cloverdale Performing Arts Center.  In past several years she has acted in many of these community plays, frequently acting onstage opposite her former theater students, but also keeping the director's need of understanding the actor's point of view fresh with compassion.
