Windsor 's staff serves freshly prepared meals that are planned to meet ¼ RDA for breakfast and 1/3 RDA for lunch. We have focused on the removal of foods containing trans-fats, use of low fat and skim cheese, less processed foods, use of whole grains in breads, buns, pizza, crackers, and chips. Ala carte items offered for sale contain no more than 150 calories, 35 % of calories from fat, 10% calories from saturated fat, and 35% of the total weight from sugar, excluding cheese, nuts, or fruit.
Students are issued a student ID card to access accounts at various locations such as the cafeteria and library. Students are held responsible for having and safeguarding their id card at all times. Student pictures are used on each computer cash register to verify identity. When participating in Windsor 's nutrition program students are required to use their account.
Windsor High School has eleven service lines that accept student ID numbers for account access through using a pin pad or scanning ID bar code, and one outside campus cart that is designated cash only.
Account deposits can be made at any cash register during any meal service with cash or check.
Students pre-paying to their account receive one free lunch for every 20.00 increment pre-paid.
Please help keep the lines moving fast by making deposits and putting your change on your account. A sales transaction takes one minute longer to hand back change, multiply that by 700 meals and that is approximately adding 12 minutes to waiting in line.
Applications from last year are valid for the first 30 operating days of the school year. Applications must be completed and approved yearly . Students should bring a lunch from home or pay regular price for a lunch in the cafeteria until notified by mail of benefit approval.
One application is needed per family. Please include each student's name, school attending, and grade on the application. The Child Nutrition office at the high school sends eligibility information electronically to the school sites and mails notices to parents/guardians.
